The Flagship of Cimiez
Nice - Cimiez
The Regina is undoubtedly the flagship residence of Cimiez. With its 150m long, 5 floors façade, classified as a Historic Monument, its 6,260 m2 surface area, its more than 8,000 m2 park, it is the majestic ‘liner’ which dropped anchor in 1897 in the heart of Cimiez.
Since then, it has enjoyed times of glory and pomp, when Queen Victoria took up her winter quarters at the “Excelsior Regina Palace“, built to welcome her and her Royal Court, but also times of sadness and decline when requisitioned for use as a military hospital during World War I and declared bankrupt in the 1929 ‘financial crash’.
Its 400 hotel rooms were then transformed into 98 apartments in 1937. Thereafter, over the years, the magnificent architecture inspired by Raoul Biasini, its spectacular hall, its Belle Epoque decorations which are fortunately still intact, its unique location offering magnificent views of Nice and the Baie des Anges and its large and spacious apartments, have found favour with a discerning clientele, aware of the majesty of the place, including very eminent figures in Arts and Literature, such as Henri Matisse.
Therefore, the Regina has today become the reference par excellence of a certain ‘art de vivre’ in Cimiez. Of course, this lifestyle comes at a cost, but investing in the Regina is not just about purchasing a beautiful apartment, it is means acquiring a piece of the Côte d’Azur history.
