Marc Chagall National Museum ‘Biblical Message’

The Museum was purpose built in 1973 to house the Biblical Message (17 paintings from 1962 to 1967), all the preparatory works as well as a series of gouaches for the Bible (1930-1932) which were donated by Marc and Valentina Chagall from 1967 to 1972.

The collection was completed by the inclusion of the Drawings for the Bible Series in 1987. A mosaic, a tapestry and several stained-glass windows by Chagall evidence the extent of his technical expertise.

The Museum, built in contemporary architectural style, is located at the bottom of the Boulevard de Cimiez, in the middle of a park planted with olive trees and Mediterranean flowers.
